About us:

The British Club Hamburg looks back on a long history. While founded in 1947 by members of the British armed forces stationed in the city, it has today become a social anchor for native speakers of English in Hamburg. Members include British nationals living in and around Hamburg as well as German and other nationals with strong British connections. The Club’s working language is English.

Our objectives:

  • To provide a bridge between British and German culture.
  • To provide members with the opportunity to make and foster social contacts.
  • To organize a variety of social events.
  • To explore various cultural events in the Hamburg community.
  • To be actively involved in the British community.
  • To support British people in maintaining their contact with the “British way of life”.

What we do:

We organize social activities, both typically British and typically German, for our members. These include among other things:

  • Monthly Club evenings in the casual, relaxed atmosphere of a British pub
  • A summer barbecue
  • A traditional British Christmas family lunch
  • Lunches or dinners at a variety of international restaurants
  • Annual “Grünkohl” and “Martinsgans” lunches
  • Pub quiz nights
  • Social networking through the private area on this website …

and much more besides
